How to glue tiles correctly

The quality of wall and floor cladding depends not only on the chosen coating — whether it is ceramic tiles, facing bricks or even mosaics. A lot depends on the glue and compliance with the technology, because breaking the technology, it will not be possible to glue even the most expensive and elegant cladding qualitatively. Today we will look in detail at the adhesive for Teknofay Plus C1TE ceramic tiles and discuss exactly how to use this composition for a neat and durable cladding.

Advantages of Teknofay Plus C1TE glueThe characteristic features of this glue are high adhesion and increased open time, which is 30 minutes.

The composition has a high resistance to sliding < 0.5 mm, which makes the application and laying process much better. Suitable for application on horizontal and vertical surfaces, a long open time allows you to take your time while gluing tiles and do the work more thoroughly. The main purpose of the cement—based adhesive Teknofay Plus C1TE is laying ceramic tiles on a ceramic surface, as well as facing work with mosaics, natural stone, travertine and decorative bricks.

The glue has proven itself well as a composition for facing kitchens, bathrooms and bathrooms, as it is used on screed, concrete and plaster.

What secrets in laying tiles are worth knowing When working with cement-based adhesives, including Teknofay Plus C1TE glue, it is worth adhering to the following recommendations:

  • The surface where you plan to glue the tile should be thoroughly cleaned: remove paint residues, dirt, oil stains and everything that will worsen the setting of the glue.
  • Large cracks and irregularities should be pre-sealed with special cement mixtures. For these purposes, repair mixes of the Teknorep series are suitable, but keep in mind: at least 4 days must pass after the preparatory work. Also, to achieve a high-quality result, it is worth treating the surface with Teknolatex 300 primers.
  • If you plan to lay tiles on ceramics, treat the plane with sandpaper to give it roughness. Concrete coatings and screeds should be moderately moistened before applying tile glue.
  • Pay special attention to mixing the mixture: following the instructions, prepare the required amount of glue using a low-speed mixer. Let the mixture stand for 3-4 minutes, and then make the final kneading. This will allow you to mix dry glue with water as efficiently as possible, avoiding the appearance of grains.
  • All work on the cladding is best carried out in the temperature range of 5 to 35 °C. If the tile needs to be laid urgently, and the temperature is above or below the specified range, after finishing the work, cover the cladding with thermal insulation material.
  • Strictly follow the instructions for using the glue: apply it with a notched trowel and glue the tile for 30 minutes. If more time has passed since the glue was applied, scrape the mortar off the plane and throw it away — it is no longer suitable for gluing tiles.

Follow these simple rules, and you will surely be able to glue the tile with high quality!
