Before laying ceramic tiles, calculations of the required amount of materials are always made: tile and glue. And if the question of the number of tiles per a certain area is quite simple, then it is not so easy to calculate how much glue will be needed. The traditional formula is quite simple: the surface area is multiplied by the consumption of the mixture specified by the manufacturer and the required layer thickness. However, each of the components has its own nuances that should be taken into account when making calculations. Today we will look in detail at how to calculate the required volume of tile adhesive using the example of Teknofay C1T composition.Surface
- Teknofay C1T adhesive is designed for gluing ceramic tiles onto a concrete surface, screed.
The manufacturer indicates the basic material consumption provided that the tiles are glued to a perfectly flat surface with a layer thickness of 1 mm. In reality, the wall or floor on which the installation is planned is rarely perfectly smooth. Therefore, before determining the surface area, it is worth evaluating all the irregularities, which will also require a certain amount of tile glue to seal. 
If the depth of cracks exceeds 5 mm, it is advisable to level the plane with an inexpensive material: make a new screed or plaster the surface. If there are small irregularities of 2-3 millimeters on the wall or floor, this depth should be considered as zero, and make calculations of the required volume based on these data.Layer thickness

The consumption indicated on the package is valid in the case of applying glue with a layer of 1 mm, but the masters are well aware of the rule: the larger the tile size, the larger the glue layer should be put. For example, for small ceramics with a size of 15x15, a layer of 3-4 mm will be sufficient, at the same time when large 50x50 plates are laid on a layer of 8-10 mm.

In the process of calculating the required amount of glue, it is worth knowing that this composition is supplied in bags of 25 kg. The dry mixture is diluted with clean water in a volume of 6.8-7.2 liters. The amount of water that will be required for mixing depends on environmental conditions, in particular, the humidity level.
Using Teknofay C1T for gluing tiles, 3 to 5 kg of dry mix is spent on 1 m2, depending on the surface. According to the reviews of the masters, in most cases, 4 kg of Teknofay C1T will be needed per square. Based on this data, you can independently calculate the required volumes.
