Reinforced fixation tile adhesive: what is it for and where is it used
Experienced tile makers are well aware that there is no universal adhesive for cladding, and each specific case requires the selection of a special composition adapted both for the type of base and for the cladding material. Among modern tile adhesives, a group of reinforced fixation compounds stands apart. These substances have special properties, which we will talk about in more detail today.
What is reinforced fixation glueAs it becomes clear from the name, these tile adhesives have increased adhesion and are able to provide the tile with significantly greater tear strength.
Contrary to the erroneous opinion, choosing such a tile adhesive for standard cladding inside a residential, dry room, the master does not increase the durability of the cladding, but only uses a reinforced compound for other purposes.
Reinforced adhesive is often applied with a thicker layer than the category of standard adhesives, and has a different purpose. For example, Teknofay Plus C1TE, reinforced cement-based tile adhesive, is designed for facing work on horizontal and vertical planes with large-sized as well as heavy-weight tiles. High adhesion, ≥ 1.5 N/mm2, allows this composition to reliably hold natural stone, travertine, as well as ceramics of medium and large sizes inside and outside the premises on vertical planes.
Where reinforced tile adhesive is usedSimilar adhesive compositions are used inside public premises, where increased pedestrian traffic is expected.
It is also advisable to use reinforced tile adhesive in rooms and outside buildings where strong temperature fluctuations are possible. The Teknofay Plus C1TE mixture can be used, for example, in the arrangement of walls and floors in industrial freezers.
In addition to the effects of temperature changes, reinforced tile adhesives are not affected by chemicals, so the use of such glue will be appropriate in industrial production conditions where various chemical compounds are present. Due to its high thermal stability, reinforced tile adhesive is optimally used when lining furnaces and many other heated surfaces.
Summing up the above, it is worth mentioning that it is possible to use reinforced tile adhesive for domestic residential premises, in particular kitchen cladding, floors in the corridor, but this is impractical, and standard category glue is suitable for these premises.
