How to clean stainless steel handrails?
To clean stainless steel handrails, do not use abrasive sponges or cleaning agents (containing abrasive materials), as the surface may tarnish or be scratched. Soft and gentle washcloths or rags are best suited for this purpose.
Also, do not use cleaning products containing solvents or acids, calcium and magnesium deposits, food vinegar, liquids containing acetic acid, and preparations intended only for sanitary ceramics, mainly based on chlorine. These types of chemicals will make the coating dull or dark.
To remove limescale from the surface, you can use a 30% solution of citric acid or use other products available in stores designed for this purpose. If in doubt, first try to apply a little bit of the product on an inconspicuous part of the fitting. Then the surface should be thoroughly rinsed with water and wiped dry.
Dirt and deposits that remain too long on the surface of stainless steel or on electroplated coatings can cause corrosion and matting of the surface. Therefore, regular cleaning of stainless steel handrails is simply necessary.
