Where and how geotextiles are used

In this article, we will look at where and how geotextiles are used.

Geotextile is a universal material that is very widely used in construction, repair, agriculture, industry. Geotextile fabric is very durable, elastic, made of polypropylene or polyester fibers, and is a single non-woven fabric in rolls. Under heavy loads, geotextile does not lose its properties and continues to perform its functions perfectly. It is also geopolotno resistant to changing weather conditions; does not rot; does not decompose; does not respond to the effects of microorganisms, bacteria, acids, alkalis, insects; counteracts the appearance of mold, fungi, roots; and has a service life of over 25 years.

The functions of the geotextile web are quite diverse. The main ones include: separation, filtration, drainage, reinforcement, reinforcement and protection.

Let's take a closer look at each of these functions

Separation and protection. The mechanical properties and durability of geotextiles make them ideal for use as a separation layer in various structures, which prevents the movement and mixing of materials, and the unique tensile strength makes it possible for geotextiles to resist stretching and distribute pressure from the upper layers. Due to this, geotextile is actively used in road and civil construction, the construction of overpasses, the construction of artificial shores and reservoirs.

Filtration and drainage. The pore size of geotextiles is designed to prevent the ingress of small particles of stones, soil into the drainage system. Geotextile is a separator between soils, between a special filler and the soil, thus it will help to ensure the long-term functioning of drainage, protect the drainage system from mechanical and other damage.

Reinforcement and reinforcement. Geotextile is used to reinforce "unstable" soil, crushed stone and other loose soil (during the construction of railways and other road works, when creating an artificial shore in the private sector and in other areas). When using bitumen waterproofing, geotextile is used as a reinforcing cloth. Geotextile is also chosen to strengthen sidewalks, paths, by lining the canvas under the tile. Thus, the entire structure is strengthened and the possibility of its shrinkage is reduced.

Household insulation. Since geotextile fabric is an environmentally friendly material, it is often used as a "blanket" and insulation for greenhouses, garden and garden crops. Because of its structure, geotextile easily passes steam and air. This allows you to keep a favorable temperature inside the greenhouses. The steam does not stagnate, and exits through the porous structure of the geotextile. Plants are insulated in the cold season, but at the same time they "breathe" and do not rot. In addition, in severe frosts, geotextile is used to shelter seedlings in vegetable gardens, new young seedlings in the garden, etc. Also, geotextiles are laid around greenhouses or other household structures to prevent the germination of weeds.

As we can see, these are not all the ways and areas of daily activity where geotextiles and other geosenthetic materials can be used. It has also found its application in the furniture industry (as a lining of upholstered furniture), in household appliances (filters), as packaging (bags for clothes, shoes, etc.).

This video will help you with choosing the necessary geotextile density based on your individual needs.

And you can buy needle-punched, thermally bonded or thermally fixed geotextiles in our warehouse in rolls of various densities at the lowest prices from a foreign manufacturer.
