Geotextile for covering plants

The closer the cold weather, the more acute the question of protecting their favorite plants from frost becomes for gardeners. Rose bushes, strawberries, grapes and other plants need a warm shelter that will prevent their death from the first spring frosts. Plants can die not only from frost, but also from sudden temperature changes. With these factors, root rotting and mechanical damage occur. We suggest using environmentally friendly geomaterials based on polyester yarns.

The following types of plants require special attention: ornamental roses, perennials, young plants (grapes, lavender), evergreens. For shrubs and small trees, a frame and geotextile structure is used. For low plants, geotextile is used and fixed to the ground with pegs or other fixators from wind gusts.

Let's talk about the advantages of geotextile:

  • The ability to pass air, which creates a favorable microclimate inside. The leaves and petals under such a "breathable" protective material are in an air environment that contains an ideal moisture content and, as a result, the plants do not rot.
  • Lightness - does not make the structure heavier, so as not to damage young shoots and fragile plants.
  • Eco-friendliness means that it will not pollute your site, will not emit substances that can have a negative impact on your plants or on the soil
  • Frost resistance – unlike other covering materials, geotextile can be used repeatedly.
  • Easy installation - it can be cut with any knife or scissors, has high resistance to chemicals and fungus does not bother him.
  • And also another important factor is the multiplicity of its use. In the warm season, it is enough to dry this material, roll it up and use it next season.

For the shelter of plants, we recommend using a gloprob geotextile with a density of 150-250 g / m2. It will not be very thin, but it will not be very thick and the plants will not "suffocate". Plants protected by geotextile can be covered with snow, which will serve as an additional natural insulation.
