Geotextiles in construction
Geotextile is a universal material for waterproofing, the use of which is in all areas of our activity: in agriculture, in construction, in household chores.
- Waterproofing of the foundation in private construction needs protection. For example, the laid waterproofing can be damaged by construction debris, glass, small or large stones. Geotextile is used as a protective layer, which covers the waterproofing layer and protects it. In conditions of excessive soil moisture, a drainage structure with geotextile is used.
- In the process of arranging a flat roof, a membrane with geotextile is used, which also has a protective function. In addition, geotextile plays the role of a separator in the "green roof" design.
- In decorative reservoirs equipped in private courtyards, geotextile is also used as a separator. It serves as a layer between the soil and sand. If a shallow water level forms in the reservoir, and along the shoreline the soil turns into a swamp, it is necessary to reconstruct the reservoir using geotextile. The bottom is covered with a geotextile cloth, then sand is filled in. Thus, we have soil and sand separately, and the structure is compacted in parallel. Strengthening against erosion of steep banks is also one of the functions of the geotextile fabric
- For the arrangement of paths and sidewalks, geotextile also performs many functions. For example, when laying paving slabs, geotextile creeps between sand and rubble. It will prevent sand washing out and cake sagging. Geotextile serves as reinforcement and separation in the construction of highways. Also, geotextile material diverts groundwater into the drainage system and strengthens the slopes of the roadway.
- In landscape design, in order to avoid the germination of grass and weeds, geotextiles are also laid.
