Types of geotextile and its density?

In this article we will talk about: what kind of geotextiles are there? And what is the density of each of these species?

Geotextile happens:

·        Needle - punched;

· Heat-treated;

· Thermally bonded.

Needle–punched - made of polyester fibers. It is made already from the name by the needle-punching method. Due to this, it passes water well, and particles of soil, sand, and so on remain on its surface. This type is classified as budgetary and is chosen in order to reduce the cost of construction work.

Heat–treated - also made of polyester fibers by the needle-punched method, but rolled on top with hot rollers. This method of production makes the material more durable and also increases its cost. This geotextile is suitable for both a garden path and a road surface.

Thermally bonded – made of 100% polypropylene. And here, not pieces of fabric and threads are already used, but one solid mono-thread. This makes the geotextile as strong as possible, despite the fact that it is an order of magnitude thinner than the previous two.

What is the density of each of the geotextiles:

  • Needle–punched - 100, 150, 200, 250, 300g/m2.
  • Heat-treated - 100, 150, 200, 250, 300g/m2.
  • Thermally bonded – 80, 100, 120, 150, 200g/m2.
