What is the difference between a drainage channel and a ladder
When it comes to the arrangement of an open-type shower, the expediency of using two types of water intake systems is considered: a ladder and a drainage channel. In general, these designs are very similar, but they have a number of differences that determine the feasibility of their use. Today we will consider in detail how the shower drainage channel differs from the ladder, and what advantages both types of these communications have.
Such a slight confusion in terminology is due to the fact that the principle of operation of both devices is very similar: a special chute collects waste water and outputs it to the drain system. If we are talking about a shower drainage channel, the gutter may have the shape of a tray, so this type of communication is also commonly called shower trays.
The principle of operation of the shower tray is very simple: the waste water flows into a special tank, it is also a tray, after which it is discharged into the sewer. The main advantages of the drainage chute include a high rate of water intake, which in turn guarantees the absence of wet puddles on the bathroom floor. Also, the shower tray is easy to install: because of the special legs, it is easy to adjust the height of the tray installation relative to the floor level, which means you do not need to have special construction skills to install this device yourself.
It is unambiguous to say that the ladder collects water more slowly than the tray, it will not be quite correct. In both systems, the rate of water discharge depends on the capacity of the sewer. In the case of using a gutter, water enters the reservoir, after which it is gradually discharged into the sewer. The ladder, in turn, simply collects water and outputs it to the pipes, so visually it may seem that the ladder copes with its task worse, but as we have already figured out, this is not the case.
The main advantage of the ladder is its hidden design, which is almost invisible in the floor plane. Such shower ladders are used in modern open-type showers, in designer bathrooms and exclusive repairs.
The ladder is very difficult to install, as it requires a competent calculation of the required angle of inclination of the floor in the shower, due to which a high output capacity is provided. Independently calculate the angle and install the ladder is very difficult, it is better to entrust this task to a specialist. However, it should be borne in mind that this will entail additional costs.
