What is better shower drain or shower channel
Many people planning repairs in the bathroom are faced with the question of which drainage structure is better to install in the shower ladder or shower channel. Despite the similarity, these devices have differences, which we will talk about today.
How does the ladder differ from the channelIn fact, both of these devices are designed to collect and drain used water into the sewer system.
However, unlike the ladder, the channel is a container into which water is pre-collected, and the ladder immediately drains into the sewer. Since the canal has a larger fence area, it collects water faster and there are no puddles left in the room. But, to say unequivocally that the channel is better than the ladder will not be true, because water is discharged from the channel at a speed that the sewer capacity provides, that is, in fact — with the same as that of the ladder.
The difference in design Since the shower ladder is considered a point drainage, and most often has a square shape of 10x10 cm and 15x15 cm, it is easier to visually "hide" it in the floor tile.
- The configuration of the shower channel has a linear shape with many design options for the grid pattern, including a grid for installing tiles. Which also makes the channel inconspicuous on the floor plane.
The shower channel and the ladder are mounted approximately the same way. The main thing is to correctly calculate the angle of the tile slope so that the water does not stagnate on the floor surface.
Both devices have a dry or water seal, which provides protection from unpleasant odors from the sewer and hygienic use. The shower channel and the ladder with a dry shutter are suitable for showers that are not used all the time, for example, in the country or in a country house. They protect the system from freezing during the frost period, since there is no water plug in the gate.
Channels and ladders with a hydraulic lock are suitable for bathrooms that are used regularly and located in conditions where freezing of water in drains is excluded.
As you can see, both the channel and the ladder have their advantages and disadvantages, so before installing a particular device, you should think about which option is best suited for you.
