Bathroom drainage systems: get your drainage right
New and innovative approaches are increasingly being used in the modern arrangement of bathrooms. One of these innovations is the expansion of the bathroom space using an inconspicuous shower area. This zone can be created in any apartment or house, regardless of the size and area of the room.
Shower corners avoid the use of traditional pallets and bulky shower cabins. An example of such innovation is a shower head mounted on the wall, a drainage system in the floor and glass walls separating the shower area and the rest of the bathroom space.
To ensure effective drainage of water, the floor is given a slight slope for the discharge of sewage into the sewer. For this purpose, special shower ladders or shower channels of different shapes and sizes are used.
The main functions of shower ladders and shower channels:

Installation of shower ladders and channels
When choosing a ladder, its capacity and the need to use a siphon should be taken into account. Siphons provide continuous discharge of wastewater into the sewer. The installation of ladders is usually carried out before pouring the floor screed. In private homes, this can be done relatively easily. However, in apartments of multi-storey buildings, it may be necessary to raise the floor in the shower area by 15 cm and give it a slope to ensure normal drainage of water into the drain grate.
Options for the location of shower ladders:
- When installed in the center, the slope to the ladder is made from four sides.
- From the edge, one edge of the shower tray is at a slight slope to the wall.
- In the corner, the ladder is installed in the corner of the shower tray, and a slight slope is made to it.
