How to make a slope for a shower drain
The slope of the floor in the shower should be provided in such a way that the water flows towards the shower ladder and is effectively discharged into the sewer. The recommended floor slope is about 2% or 2 cm per 1 meter of length. That is, if the length of the shower cabin is, for example, 1.5 meters, then the slope of the floor should be about 3 cm.
Instructions for the master to perform the work:
- Surface preparation: Before laying tiles or other coverings on the shower floor, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned of dust, dirt and oils. If necessary, level the surface to ensure an even slope.
- Slope detection: Using a level and a construction laser, determine the exact position of the slope. The slope should be directed from the walls to the soul ladder.
- Laying the coating: After determining the slope, lay the coating (for example, tile or other material) on the floor, following the established slope. Pay special attention to the accuracy of the installation to ensure effective drainage of water.
- Waterproofing: To ensure protection against leaks and structural damage, it is recommended to perform waterproofing of the floor and walls in the shower area. Waterproofing materials should be laid on the floor and raised on the walls by several centimeters. This will prevent water from entering the building structures and protect the room from rotting and damage.
- Grouting of joints: After laying the coating and drying the glue, grout the joints between the tiles or other elements of the coating. The grout must be of high quality and waterproof to prevent leaks.
