How to choose a shower drain
The shower area, for a modern person, is an opportunity to quickly refresh during the day, cheer up in the morning and relax in the evening.
In addition to the design of the shower area, its size, tile color, and the choice of shower system, there is another small, but such an important nuance – this is the choice of a shower ladder.
Why is it so important to choose the right shower ladder? If the ladder has a low capacity, or its size is too small, then when taking water procedures, you will simply stand in the water. Wouldn't really like that, right?
In this article I will tell you how to choose a shower ladder, what a shower ladder should be, what functions a ladder should perform.
Let's first talk about what a shower ladder is. The shower ladder consists of a drainage part in the form of a funnel, a siphon, a discharge pipe (often with an outlet to the 50 pipe), and a grate.
Usually the ladder has a square shape and its size can be 10 * 10cm, 15*15cm, 20* 20cm.
The ladder is a small system for receiving water in the shower and directing it to the sewer.In addition to internal functions, the ladder has external ones: protection from odors entering the room and filtration of wastewater from large debris.
The ladder can be installed anywhere in the shower area. For installation near the wall, I recommend the installation of corner ladders. With this solution, the slope of the floor is performed in two planes, ensuring the flow of water to the desired angle. This is the best option that does not attract too much attention.
For installation in the middle, on the side, at the entrance to the shower, I recommend AISI 304 stainless steel ladders.
For real aesthetes there is a shower ladder under the tile. What is the peculiarity of this ladder?
And the peculiarity is that its lattice can be laid in two ways. The first method allows you to lay a tile inside the grid, and the second allows you to leave the grid in the form of a chrome square.
When choosing a ladder for a shower room, be sure to pay attention to its shutter, it can be: dry, hydro and combined.A ladder with a dry shutter – prevents odors from entering without the participation of water, but with the help of an air plug.
- Such a ladder is ideal for installation in bathrooms where showers are infrequent (for example, in the country).
- A ladder with a hydraulic lock is also called a wet shutter. It blocks the penetration of aromas with the help of the water itself, which lingers inside the ladder in small quantities. It is recommended to install ladders with a wet shutter in shower areas where showers are taken regularly. This is necessary so that the ladder device does not dry out inside, otherwise fetid odors will penetrate into the room.
- A ladder with a double hydraulic seal – prevents the ingress of odor by means of a double "shutter-glass". Such a ladder is suitable for installation both in frequently used showers and in those that are used every day.
Let's sum up! When choosing a shower ladder, pay attention to its size, the material from which it is made and the shutter of the ladder. Guided by all the listed criteria, do not forget that it is important where the ladder will be installed.
