Which shutter to choose: dry, water seal or combined
The shower ladder consists of several parts:
- Body
- Siphon
- Shutter
- Grid
- Water drainage pipe
The shutter is one of the important elements of the shower system. There are several types of valves: dry, hydro (wet) and combined (double).
Hydraulic lock – blocks the penetration of unpleasant odors with the help of water, which remains inside the ladder in small quantities. This option can be used where a shower is regularly used. If water does not enter the system for a long time, all odors from the sewer enter the room. For example: if you are choosing a shutter option for the country, where water draining will be extremely rare, it is better to choose a dry shutter.
- Dry shutter – most often it is a ball or a hat, which are placed on top of the drain opening of the ladder. When the ladder is filled with water, this element gradually rises to the top and, thereby, opens the drain. When the water flow stops, the shutter is lowered and blocks the access of air from the sewer. This type of shutter is used in rooms with rare water drainage.
There are several types of dry shutter:
the float that is located on top of the passage. When a stream of water enters, it rises, and after draining it falls and blocks the passage;- membrane, starts to work due to water pressure. When water flows, this gate opens immediately, and closes with a spring element.
Pay attention also to our double-hull ladders for balconies and terraces, as well as compact ladders for tiles.
- Combined shutter – combines the 2 above listed: hydro and dry. It is universal because it prevents the appearance of unnecessary odors, thanks to the water plug. When the water dries up, the float will serve as additional protection. The price of such a shutter is much higher than usual.
