Is it possible to install a shower drain in the apartment
A shower ladder in the bathroom looks much more profitable than a standard shower cabin with a pallet, however, it is worth considering a number of restrictions for installing a ladder, especially if it concerns an apartment in a multi-storey building. Today we will talk in detail about the installation of ladders in the apartment and answer the question in which case and why it should not be installed.
What is a shower ladder?
The shower ladder is an engineering structure that is installed in the bathroom floor and serves to drain water.
There are several advantages of shower ladders:
- A modern appearance that allows you to hide communications in the floor plane, and therefore not install a pallet and make open-type showers.
- The absence of pallets, thresholds and other partitions is especially important for people with limited mobility. The floor in the shower is absolutely flat, a person does not need to step over obstacles, which means that even wheelchair users can comfortably use such a bathroom.
- A wide range of ladder geometries allows you to choose a product for any occasion: there are angular, straight, horizontal, vertical ladders. The outlet to the pipe can also be different (50/100 mm), there are models with a rotary siphon. The ladder can be mounted under the tile, which means it will not be noticeable at all.
As you can see, the ladder has a lot of advantages, but there is an opinion that installing a ladder in an apartment is prohibited. Where did this belief come from — let's figure it out.
Shower ladder in the apartment: is it possible or not
Since the ladder is mounted directly into the bathroom floor, which requires raising the level taking into account the required slope, the load on the floors increases, which is extremely undesirable in old houses.
Another nuance is the lack of access to communications. In the event of a leak, it will be very problematic and costly to fix the problem, since the pipes embedded in the floor will have to be changed.
Based on the above, we conclude that it is possible to install a ladder in the apartment, but it is worth taking into account the estimated load on the floors and taking care of access to communications. As an alternative, podiums with hatches can be used, which will leave access to the pipes open.
