Shower drain sizes
In this article we will talk about shower ladders, and to be more precise, about their sizes. Often the word ladder generalizes several shower water intake devices. To be more precise, there are three types of products: point ladders (square), shower channels (linear ladders), corner ladders. Now we will look at the dimensions and features of each model.
Point ladders are square ladders for receiving water. This type is the most budget-friendly and easy to install, since it does not take up much space and it does not take a long time to mess with it.
The equipment of the ladders is as follows: housing, shutter and grille. There may be additional elements if we are talking about two-body models. The diameter of the connection to the sewer is 50 or 100mm. The output is both horizontal and vertical. The size of the grid varies: 10x10, 15x15 and 20x20 cm. The capacity of the ladder directly depends on the diameter of the pipe, the outlet and the size of the grate.
The body of the ladders is made of plastic or stainless steel. A plastic ladder can be with a corrugated "throat" - this means that the height of the ladder can be adjusted by trimming. The height of the ladder is also an important point when choosing, it should not be more than the height of the screed. The material of the housing depends on where the ladder can be installed. For example: a ladder made of stainless steel can be installed in the food, chemical or pharmaceutical industries. Conventional ladders with a plastic body are suitable for public or private shower rooms.
Linear ladders – also called shower channels or trays, often generalize and are simply called ladders.
They have a rectangular linear shape. The length of the product varies: 33, 40, 50, 60 and 80 cm. Due to the length, the throughput of shower trays is higher than that of point ladders. Such models are an excellent solution for barrier-free shower areas. They will become a stylish solution for houses, apartments, hotels, barracks, etc. The price range varies from 1000-6000 UAH. Therefore, you can find a decent alternative for any wallet.
The complete set of shower trays is as follows: gutter, grate, shutter, legs. Also, models may have certain features, such as: waterproofing tape, 360-degree rotary siphon, flange. All these additional items should be chosen based on the installation site of the ladder. For example: if the tray is installed near the wall, then it is better for you to purchase a model with a vertical flange. Or if the outlet for connecting to the sewer pipe is not equipped quite conveniently when connecting the tray, then it is better to purchase a model with a rotary siphon.
In order to make it easier to adjust the height of the tray to the height of the screed, they have adjustable legs. The tray body is made of both polypropylene and stainless steel. Trays are produced with a very large variation of grids. Including one of these options trays with a grid under the tile. This allows you to lay tiles or mosaics inside the grate, thereby the device is practically invisible, and the drain is equipped.
Corner ladders – the name indicates that the product is mounted in the corner of the room.
For ease of installation, the product has a triangular shape. This is both a plus and a minus at the same time. Since the ladder can only be installed at the junction of two walls. And on the other hand, the slope of the floor is done only in one direction. Such products do not have height adjustment, as well as point ladders. Their release is always horizontal with connection to the DN50 pipe. Therefore, when choosing, you need to pay attention to the height so that the product fits under the screed level.
The configuration of the corner ladders is as follows: grate, siphon, housing. As an addition, there can be a 360-degree rotary siphon. Such products have an average price policy. More stylish appearance than point models.
