What do the colors of trash containers mean?
In Ukraine, the colors of garbage containers may vary depending on the local waste management and municipality. However, usually the following container colors are used to separate and sort waste:
1. Blue container: Usually the blue container is used to collect paper and cardboard waste, such as newspapers, magazines, cartons and paper packages.
2. Yellow container: Yellow container is most often designed for plastic waste, including plastic bottles, cans and packaging.
3. Green container: The green container is usually used to collect organic waste such as food residues, garden waste and other biodegradable materials.
4. Gray or black container: A gray or black container can be used to collect other non-recyclable waste, such as plastic bags, dirty papers, glass and other waste that cannot be attributed to paper, plastic or organic.
5. Containers of other colors: In some regions of Ukraine, other colors of containers or additional containers may be used to collect certain types of waste, such as glass (usually a white or brown container), batteries, light bulbs and other hazardous waste.
