What size trash can should you choose?
In this article we will talk about the right choice of a trash can, or rather, what volume to choose. It would seem that this is such a trifle. What difference does it make what kind of trash bucket? But you must agree that it is infuriating when all the garbage does not fit in the trash can. Or when it is very large, takes up a lot of space, but at the same time it is never 100% filled with garbage. To make the right choice, you need to take into account the number of households, lifestyle, how much space you have to place a bucket. Now you understand that not everything is so simple?
To date, manufacturers of garbage buckets present volumes from 3 to 50 liters in their arsenal for a wide range of users. If there are 2 people in your family, a bucket of 12-16 liters will be enough for you. If there are 4 people, it is better to take a bucket with a volume of 25-32 liters, it will be even with a small margin. If you take less, you will simply have to take out the trash twice a day. If you opt for a bucket larger than 32 liters, you will be too lazy to take out the garbage until the container is full, which will lead to its accumulation and unpleasant odor. If there are more than 5-7 people in your family, pay attention to buckets from 32-40 liters.
Choose round buckets – they are the most convenient. To be installed in the kitchen, the bucket must have a lid so that the odors of waste do not enter the room. You can choose several options for an apartment:
- Built–in type - special kitchen buckets that are attached to the furniture door. Buckets come with a lid, it is attached by a cord to the wall of furniture. - With a pedal – the simplest model, the lid opens either manually or by pressing the pedal. This allows you to dispose of waste without contact. Also made of AISI 430 stainless steel. Inside they have a plastic bucket for collecting garbage. This allows you to use the model both with and without a garbage bag. After all, you can collect garbage in an internal plastic container, then get it and throw away the waste and clean it from contamination with water. Buckets are released in volume: 3, 5, 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, 40 liters. Suitable for the maximum range of users. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is the dimensions of the bucket to fit.
- With a rotary lid – also a non-contact model, made of stainless steel AISI 430. The lid rotates 360 degrees. To return it to its original position, there is a magnet on the inside. They are a little more compact than those with a pedal, because you don't need extra space to open the lid. They are available in volume: 5, 8, 12, 16, 20, 27, 32, 45 L.
Buckets with a pedal and a swivel lid are also suitable for installation in the bathroom. The volume should be chosen 3-5 liters. This will be quite enough for collecting small garbage.
