Two-component polymer-cement waterproofing

Neglecting this process can lead to very serious consequences. The result may be the formation of mold, mildew, corrosion of metal structural elements, damage to a layer of decorative plaster or panels, and in some cases loss of bearing functions of the entire structure.

Which material should I choose? Today, the market offers many options for waterproofing materials:

• the mixtures are one- and two-component. Which in turn are divided into penetrating, elastic, armor, etc.
• bitumen mastics, bitumen-rubber, thin-layer, thick-layer, water-based, solvent-based, etc.

The scope of application and purpose depends on the components. The price of the issue also depends on the composition of the selected material. When trying to figure out what is for what, a person who is not related to construction will "get his head spinning."

In this article, we will talk in more detail about two-component polymer-cement compositions for waterproofing, which have already proven themselves as high-quality and reliable materials, these are Teknomer 200 EX, Teknomer 200. The scope of their application, advantages and how to apply them correctly.

Teknomer 200 EX, Teknomer 200 is a two-component waterproofing based on cement and acrylic with special additives. It is used inside or outside structures made of porous materials (brick, stone, concrete blocks, limestone, can be applied over plaster, screeds). Suitable for horizontal and vertical surfaces. 

Advantages of two-component polymer-cement waterproofing:

• It is environmentally friendly, can come into contact with drinking water
• The coating is vapor permeable, therefore it allows the concrete to "breathe"
• Due to its elastic properties, the applied coating is able to cover cracks up to 4 millimeters
• High resistance to freezing and thawing
• Penetrates deeply into concrete and brick foundations
• It is not difficult to apply the composition, the surface moisture requirements are minimal
• It is resistant to negative and positive water pressure

• Waterproofing of foundations, tunnels, mines that are exposed to positive and negative groundwater pressure
• Building structures subject to dynamic loads
• Waterproofing of canals, dams, water supply systems, water treatment structures, swimming pools, drinking water tanks, as well as bridges
• Waterproofing of balconies and terraces
• Waterproofing indoors under tiles in bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas
• Internal and external waterproofing of both new and old buildings exposed to aggressive environments

Application of polymer-cement waterproofing:

Important!!! Before applying the mixture, it is necessary to prepare the surface, it is cleaned of dust, dirt, oils and foreign substances. Existing cracks and seams are stitched and tightly filled with repair compounds, we recommend using repair mixtures Teknorep 300, Teknorep 300 EX. If there is an active water leak, it must be eliminated using Teknoplug.

• Mix the two components.
• Pour the liquid component into a clean container, observing the proportions, slowly add the powder part and mix thoroughly with a mixer at low rpm (500 rpm) for 5 minutes. Let the solution stand for 3 minutes, then continue mixing again until a homogeneous mass is formed.
• Next, the prepared Teknomer 200 or Teknomer 200 EX solution must be applied in 2-3 layers with a brush or spatula, carefully rubbing into the surface, leaving no gaps (the second layer is applied in the vertical direction of applying the 1st layer!).
• Corners and joints on the surface must be sealed with elastic insulating tape to seal Teknomer Pah Band 120/70 construction joints. After application, the surface must be protected from direct sunlight, frost and wind for at least 1 day.
