Sealing expansion joints in concrete floors

     Temperature seams divide the floors of buildings into separate blocks in order to compensate for deformations that occur due to temperature fluctuations. This type of joints compensates for changes in the volume of the concrete mass, thereby preventing its cracking and significantly prolonging the period of its operation.

     The process of arranging temperature seams occurs in several stages:

  • First you need to determine the location of the lines for cutting concrete. The distance between them can be calculated by multiplying 25 by the thickness of the floor;
  • Next, cut the grooves with a power tool. The depth of the seam should be 1/3 of the thickness of the floor. Optimal dimensions in width – a couple of centimeters;
  • Clean the seam and then prime it;
  • When the seam is dry, the slots should be filled with any material intended for this purpose.
