Spike membrane for foundation

The spiked membrane is a modern material of a wide range of applications, the main task of which is protection from water, moisture and condensate, as well as protection of waterproofing materials from mechanical damage during backfilling of the soil.

The membrane is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and has cone-shaped spikes along the entire plane, 8 mm high. Rolled membrane in rolls of 20 linear meters.

A spike-shaped membrane is used in foundations, retaining walls, blind areas, exploited roofs and terraces, road construction, underground structures and an alternative to concrete preparation. For each purpose and depending on the technical conditions, a membrane of different densities from 400 to 600 g/ sq.m. is used, as well as of different types: with and without geotextile.

The following types are used for the foundation:

Regardless of the type of spiked membrane, they are resistant to water, gases, chemicals, various kinds of fungi and bacteria, as well as to physical contact with tree roots, rubble and remnants of construction debris.

Installation of a spiked membrane for the foundation:

  • The membrane web should be deployed along the foundation wall in such a way that the membrane is 10-30 cm above the ground filling level.
  • It is connected to each other by an overlap of 10-20 cm . The overlap seams are glued with a double-sided sticky butyl rubber tape.
  • The membrane is fixed mechanically using dowels with a pitch of 30 cm or a special bar.
  • A drainage pipe is laid along the perimeter of the foundation, to which a spiked membrane is supplied.

important! A spike-shaped membrane without geotextile is installed with spikes to the foundation wall. The spiked membrane with geotextile is installed so that the spikes are from the wall, geotextile to the ground.
