Spiked membrane for garden paths

Garden and pedestrian paths on the site have not only a practical, but also an aesthetic function. Therefore, it is very important that they remain smooth, whole for a long time, without dips and preferably without weeds.

The main problem of garden paths is subsidence and leaching of the soil under them. And this problem is formed in the preparatory layer of the track, because as a rule, it is simply poured from sand or crushed stone. You can solve this problem! To avoid sagging of the tracks, it is necessary to use a profiled spiked membrane.

A spiked membrane is a rolled material made of high–density polyethylene, which has spikes all over the surface and happens with and without geotextile. For garden paths, it is necessary to use a spike-shaped membrane with geotextile.

The profiled membrane takes over the functions of the drainage layer and evenly distributes the load, and the geotextile protects it from silting. It allows you to maintain the stability of the soil base, increase the load-bearing capacity of the entire track and eliminate weed germination. It also prevents a large amount of water from accumulating under the track.

The big advantage is that now there is no need to dig a deep pit and use additional gravel.

The installation of the spiked membrane is very simple:


  • Marking out the contours of the track on the site.
  • We take out the soil by about 25 cm
  • We seal it with a vibrating block.
  • We form slopes so that water flows down from under the tracks.
  • We lay the membrane on the prepared base with the geotextile up.
  • The membrane is connected to each other with an overlap of 10-20 cm wide .
  • The overlap seams are glued with a double-sided sticky butyl rubber tape.
  • Next, we perform the device of the following layers according to the project, depending on the type of construction (concrete, crushed stone, paving slabs, etc.).

Pedestrian paths are created so quickly and simply with the help of a profiled membrane.
