Spiked membrane in the construction and arrangement of bomb shelters
Unfortunately, the situation in Ukraine has become such that now there is a question of building separate bomb shelters and buildings with the mandatory presence of bomb shelters.

There are different categories of bomb shelters, they are arranged differently, built using different technologies, different materials are used, but one thing remains unchanged: any bomb shelter should be strong, reliable, long-term and as comfortable as possible.
Since all bomb shelters are located underground, they are characterized by the same problems as conventional underground structures. And the most important of them is waterproofing and water drainage. It is impossible to imagine a comfortable stay of several days, weeks, or even months in a damp, cold and humid room, no matter how reliable and strong it may be.
To drain water from the underground structure, a drainage layer must be installed. The lack of wall drainage leads to flooding, freezing and heaving of the structure, mold damage and early destruction of the building. To solve these problems, only modern and proven materials are used, such as the spiked membrane SNT Drain, from the Turkish manufacturer Sintar.
The membrane is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and has cone-shaped spikes along the entire plane, 8 mm high.
For the arrangement of wall drainage, the spiked membrane should be with geotextile. A special layer of geotextile filters the soil particles so that they do not block the passage of the water flow.
The spiked membrane has a high compressive strength, is resistant to chemicals, gases, acids, alkalis, oils and solvents, to rot, various fungi and bacteria in the soil, as well as to physical contact with tree roots, rubble and remnants of construction debris.
The installation of the spiked membrane is very easy and fast.
- The canvas should be deployed along the wall, geotextile to the ground, so that the membrane is 30-100 cm above the level of filling the ground.
- Overlap 10-20 cm . The overlap seams are glued with a two-string sticky butyl rubber tape.
- The membrane is fixed mechanically using dowels with a pitch of 30 cm or a special bar.
- A drainage pipe is laid along the perimeter of the foundation, to which a spiked membrane is supplied.
Using modern and proven materials, you can be sure of the strength and durability of any underground structure, including bomb shelters.
