How to make a shower without a pallet in an apartment
Surely you have seen beautiful shower cabins in movies or somewhere in hotels, in which there is no pallet, and the floor itself is made on one level. This version of the shower has its own characteristics, so it can not be performed everywhere. After all, the peculiarity of a shower without a pallet is to ensure a full drain into the shower sewer, as well as collecting water under the upper shower from the floor.
First of all, it should be clarified what the slope should be for draining the water in the shower. If a pallet is made, then raising the level of the sewer pipes of the shower is solved simply. But without a pallet, there are some nuances and you need to raise the entire floor level in the bathroom or use a drain with a drainage pump.
It is very important that all measurements for the installation are carried out at the moment of planning, using the base level, the level of the riser docking with the sewer in the bathroom. If the level of the riser of the apartment and the tee of the sewer of the bath does not allow to lower the floor, as an alternative to a shower without a pallet, you can:
- a new tie-in is being made to the sewer riser, which will be below the level
- a special drainage pump is installed in the shower tray, which raises the shower waste water to a certain height.
Features of the floor level under the showerThis is an important issue that will face everyone who wants to install a shower without a pallet.
It should be taken into account that it should have an angle of inclination of 1% towards the tray. There are 5 ways to do this:
- the classic option is laying tiles in the shower area at a slight angle to the drain ladder in 1%
- the use of a shower tray, as well as laying tiles with a slope of 1%
- the use of a slotted shower tray, which will be an alternative to the tile slope. It is located in a closed rectangle, and the level is made slightly above the floor level
- the use of a drainage tray that lowers the floor level
- the use of special trays in the wall or corner of the shower, which are also installed at a slope of 1%.
How to choose the right materialIf you are installing pipes under the bathroom, it is best to choose steel or cast iron.
Plastic, although they have high resistance to corrosion, have a low weight, but they react poorly to temperature. Cast iron is the heaviest, but durable, although deposits may accumulate on the inside over time. But steel ones have a zinc coating that can protect against corrosion. But it is not the selection of pipes itself that is very important, namely their installation and hiding. To do this, it is important to use waterproofing materials in the bathroom.
There are the following options for the location of the ladder:
- A spot drain that is located in the center or from the edge.
- The linear one is presented in the form of a gutter and is complemented by a lattice, placed along the wall.
- Combined combines both point and linear options.
