How to make waterproofing in the shower room

The shower room has a permanently higher humidity than in any other residential premises. It is humidity and dampness that are the optimal environment for the appearance of fungus. This is very harmful to health, so you need to take care of reliable waterproofing of the shower so that moisture does not accumulate in small cracks and seams.

Which areas of the shower room need special attention?Unlike the bathroom, the shower room is completely exposed to constant moisture from splashes, steam, condensate and water flowing directly to the floor.

In such a bathroom there are special zones that take on the maximum load – these are high-risk points. These include the entire floor, places where sewer and water pipes are connected to the sink and shower, as well as the lower part of the walls. When arranging waterproofing, it is these places that should be given close attention.

We do waterproofing in the showerIt is important to make sure that the floor level in the bathroom is lower than in all other rooms.

If it cannot be lowered, you can take care of arranging a high threshold. It will serve as a natural barrier in case flooding occurs. The Teknomer 200 EX mixture will help protect the room from the negative effects of moisture.Teknomer 200 EX is an elastic two–component waterproofing that provides increased resistance of surfaces to positive water pressure.

The working composition is prepared from two components: the first is a cement–based powder, and the second is an emulsion based on polymers and special additives that increase water resistance.

Among the properties of Teknomer 200 EX waterproofing , it can be noted:High resistance to condensation, steam, water

  • No shrinkage and cracking after drying
  • Increased resistance to chlorine ions
  • Excellent adhesion to the treated surface
  • Durability
  • Resistance to the formation of fungus and mold
  • Fast solidification of the layer in 5-6 hours

The mass of the finished mixture is 30 kg, of which 20 kg is a dry component. The consumption of the dry mixture is 2.5-3 kg when applied in two layers per 1 m2. This means that one package of waterproofing is enough to treat a surface area of 8 m2. It is recommended to apply the finished solution with a spatula or a wide flat brush. The second layer is applied perpendicular to the first to achieve greater density and evenness of application. The prepared working solution should be fully used within 6 hours.
