How to apply waterproofing on walls
Waterproofing of walls is a special surface treatment with hydrophobic protective materials that prevent the destructive effects of wet steam and water. The treatment of walls, floor and ceiling is carried out before the start of finishing works. With the help of a high-quality waterproofing composition, it is possible to increase the durability of floors, eliminate the negative impact of external factors that entail the destruction of concrete and brick partitions, the formation of cracks, chips and other damage.
In order for waterproofing to perform its main function efficiently, it is necessary to take care of its proper application. Let's consider how to apply waterproofing protection to walls using the example of a Teknomer 200 EX mixture.Instructions for applying waterproofing
Teknomer 200 EX is a waterproofing mixture consisting of two components: a cement–based powder and a liquid emulsion.
How to apply liquid waterproofing correctly:All surfaces before applying the mixture should be degreased and cleaned of any dirt that prevents good adhesion.
- If there are large cracks, holes and other damages on the walls, they should be pre-sealed. Teknorep repair solution is suitable for these purposes. The material should be allowed to dry for 3-4 days and only then apply a layer of waterproofing.
- Before applying, it is necessary to determine the water pressure, since the Teknomer 200 EX mixture is not suitable for waterproofing with negative water pressure.
- It is recommended to additionally seal and protect all corners and seams where the tile will be laid with Teknomer pah bandi waterproofing tape.
- The mixture is most convenient to apply to the walls with a spatula or a flat brush. It is recommended to apply layers perpendicular to each other to create a better coating.
- Complete drying is achieved when the composition is not imprinted on the fingers.
- If the mixture is applied to the screed, you need to use a waterproofing mesh between the layers for greater reliability.
- To prepare the working solution, you need to gradually pour the powdered component A into the liquid component B and mix with a construction mixer at a slow speed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. After mixing, it should be left for 3-5 minutes and then mixed again with a mixer.
What else to consider before applying waterproofing to wallsWaterproofing mixture is not applied to metal, wood, PVC, and similar types of surfaces.
You can start finishing as early as 3 days after applying the final layer of insulation. The material should be applied at a room air temperature ranging from 5℃ to 35℃. When drying, care must be taken to ensure that direct sunlight does not fall on the surface. When working with the mixture, a respirator and safety glasses should be used.
